Delegates: Antonio Volpone e Gianluca Giusti (ATER Fondazione)
Emilia-Romagna can be seen as one vast open stage stretching along the ancient Roman road that gives the region its name — the Via Emilia — lined with live clubs, theatres, parks, courtyards, squares, beaches, and auditoriums hosting events and festivals of every kind.
A land of great musicians, passionate about opera and the cradle of Italy’s “independent music” movement in the 1970s and ’80s, it is now Italy’s second region for number of concerts and third for audience attendance and spending.
Since 2018, the Region has implemented a comprehensive program to strengthen music education, professional training, production systems, distribution, and promotion, focusing on innovation and internationalization, under the Regional Law 2/2018 “Development of the Music Sector.”
Through the Emilia-Romagna Music Commission, the Region supports and promotes talent, professional and entrepreneurial resources, and fosters favorable conditions for new artistic development, production, and international exchange.
Since 2022, in close collaboration with ATER Fondazione, it has launched the Music Export Office, offering financial and logistical support as well as ongoing consultancy to help local music professionals develop internationalization strategies and build partnerships with other music export offices across Europe and the world.
